My last blog with Lucy

So it's minutes before I leave for my surgery. Yes, I am very nervous. Yes, I know it's routine. But it's not routine for me and I'm very apprehensive about it. Wish me luck, if even to yourself, it would be greatly appreciated. I have a severe case of the "white coat" syndrome and I'm still flipping out from them extracting blood from me on Monday. I woke up at 4:30am just so I could have a drink of water since I'm not suppose to have anything after 5:00am. So I'm pretty stinkin' hungry. So yeah, I'm scared but really people go through much worse than this and I should just suck it up. One thing that is getting me through is the idea of getting a crushed ice soda and crinkle fries from Root Beer King. Shut up, I know that's bad for me but I'm going through an ordeal so :p *sticks out tongue*

Misc. Stuff

Yesterday was another 1/2 session with Johnny Brav... uh... I mean Brian. He stills wins. However, today I'm not sore. *big smile* I got almost 8 hours of sleep too. Tonight a friend comes over to play games, good times, good times.

Although, I have a TON of reports to type and 3 TONS of samples. I thought 2 days ago that I would finish all my work before Lucy gets removed. Now... well now I think that's near impossible. I have so much stuff still coming in. I really shouldn't be surprised but it would have been nice to not have any work to worry about while I'm out.

Oh well, back to work...

Lucy got felt up.

Yesterday, 2 girls were touching Lucy. That was... interesting. Yes, interesting is a safe word. :) We'll just leave it at that, the real story isn't quite as good and joking about it keeps me somewhat sane. I also learned what an Advanced Directive was, wow, that was uplifting... pffft. *focuses on girls touching Lucy* Much better than deciding who puts me on a breathing machine should something "highly unlikely" occur... geez. If it's so "highly unlikely" why'd you have to give me a pamplet and make me sign stuff about it. :-o

Sore... again... really?

My pain is your pain. Just when I think, "hey I'm getting better, it's getting easier." I have another session with Brian. You may think, Brian, Brian, Brian, that's all we hear about it. Well he is a major thorn, I mean part of my life :) (kidding if you ever happen to run across this Brian). But really, I can pull some t-shirts over my hips, that's definitely new. I wore pants when it was 99 deg outside (some of you know how big of a deal that is).

So yesterday was a serious leg workout, so much that I couldn't tell my right from left at one point. That was funny. Today my legs are a bit wobbly, not as bad as 2 weeks ago but I get up a little slow from a chair.

Today is also the 3rd lumpy bump appointment. *reveals sword and touches said lumpy bump* "From this day forward lumpy bump, you will now be known as Lucy." Lucy was a attached to Charlie Brown at the hip, so this works for me.

Nothing too new...

It's Monday.
I'm a little sleepy.
There were too many drivers on the road today. *grr*
Gym at 4:pm
That's about my day.

Gaming, Gaming & IKEA

So this has been a good, although very busy, weekend. Friday night we gamed with some friends, good ol' Power Grid and I won :) I was the 1st to Power 17 cities. Saturday morning we got up to meet a friend for breakfast and then head down to Burbank to play games at Games Day 27! Good times. We learned 2 new games that day and had an all around good time. It was a little warm in there but that's okay, we were gaming!

Took some time to see Lynn off and get some fresh air. We found this little Italian place, shared a pizza and grilled chicken caesar salad, walked to get some ice cream and headed back. Got in one more game and wouldn't you know it? Lynn won a game but wasn't there for the drawing! It was about 7:00pm now and we needed to get to IKEA to pick up a few things and get home to pick up the dogs at a decent time. IKEA is so awesome... I love, love, love their stuff. The parking sucks but it's a good time.

Back to life today, many things need to be picked up, Erin goes back to work tomorrow so it's a race... better get going. Enjoy your day :)

No Talking

So I had my first 1/2 session with Brian. Holy speed session Batman! Apparently, as he so told me afterwards, the 1/2 sessions are harder because he goes faster and almost crams just as much in as a 50 minute session. *phew*

Usually, we can carry a slight banter on during a workout. Not so much yesterday. He really kicked my ass. My arms and shoulders were B-U-R-N-I-N-G. My legs were better, I still haven't revisited squats yet but that hasn't stopped him from leg press, quad press and lunges. I just kept sweating and smiling. I finished up on the stairclimber and treadmill. Today I think I will try the new stair machine. They are actual rotating stairs, like a escalator in the mall but much smaller and when you get to the top you don't get to check out a video game store or buy a lemonade. 2 more workouts and I get 1 day off, woohoo :)

Winning

Brian wins a lot. My armpits are sore, yes I said my armpits, shut up. Today, I endure his pain yet again. I'm glad. I like it. He is also playing to my Johnny Bravo reference, it's nice to laugh while your muscles are burning through your skin. I think that shows his talents as a trainer (playing to ones audience). I'm critical like that.

Well it's about time to eat again, need fuel for the workout that is to occur in 1 hour and 38 mintues. Have a good evening all...
The Puppies Are All Home

Most of you know, I "took" a puppy from a bad home. I felt bad for well over a month about it. Although, I was happy that my friend got the female puppy she had been waiting for. As some of you also know, the runt pup had 2 siblings. Come to find out on Monday, the tan and white was a girl and the other black and white was a boy. My mom went over and asked if she was going to sell them or give them away (trying to push her into making some kind of decision) and she said if she knew of good homes she would give them away. My mom ran to call me and I had a home for one of them in about 30 minutes. My newly divorced friend who's ex-wife was an animal hater (shudders at the thought & should say a lot right there) said he would take the female. I picked her up Tuesday evening after my workout and took her to my turtle meeting where her new owner was. I walked in and he looked at me and said "oh my God, she's adorable." She was very sweet and quiet. I held her in my arms most of the meeting. Everyone loved her. He didn't know I was bringing her to the meeting that night but he was very happy.

In my attempts to find her brother a home, I took a pic of him and took it to the meeting. Easily enough, (I mean geez, everyone's an animal lover in that room) the Presidents wife wanted him because he matched their border collie they already have. She wanted to call him "mini-me." So I picked him up last night after the yummy birthday dinner/dessert and took him to his new home. He was very loving and sweet as well. We went into the house and when he saw the big dog, he pooped. Poor guy. Don took him (as the Alpha in the house) and sat on the couch while the other dogs were let in. "Mini-me" was very happy and kept licking Don and running on the couch, bouncing around, it was so cute. He was home. So now all the neglected dogs have good homes and I couldn't be happier. Yay for new puppies!

Sleep tight puppies, there is much playing to be done tomorrow...

Weekend Update

Friday was cool, I got off work at 3:00pm to drop mail off and so we finished our workout at 4:00pm. There wasn't very many people at the gym, it was nice. Although, there were 2 men talking extremely loud by a bike. This goes to that whole, shut up and work out attitude I'm getting. I hate having to hear other peoples' conversations! It's annoying! I had a hell of a time on the bike, my legs are fatigued, plain and simple. I now know pain.

Saturday got flipped around, we stayed up too late and so now my schedule went something like: 8-10am go help Erin with her classroom, 10:00am, haul ass home, eat again, get ready and meet Kris at some wedding dress shops at 11:00am. She had me till about 1:15pm then I went to the gym, died through my bike workout (thank goodness we got Sunday off). Headed off to pick up a cake for Erin's surprise gaming/birthday party, then picked up the dogs and went home to straighten up a little. Some of our friends came over and we had dinner, yay for tri-tip, and played a 3 hour game of Railroad Tycoon which Erin happened to win by 1 point. This was nice for 2 reasons: 1) It was her birthday and 2) she had never won at RRT before. YAY FOR ERIN!

Sunday was nice, we laid around, dug in some dirt, laid around some more. Took a nap, then went to our parents house for dinner. It was good. I went for a swim for an hour, did a lot of laps so I could have a piece of cake, it was worth it!

Some misc. times in there, I found time to read Harry Potter. I have been putting off reading book 6 because book 5 ticked me off so much. I hear this one will anger me even more but I'm ready for it... I think. So in the past couple of days, I've read about half the book, only 300 more pages to go, I should finish by the end of the week.

So that's the end of my weekend, basically.

The day after yesterday... Today.

Well, my first full session with Brian was yesterday. Holy shit. He's worth the money. He pushed me and it was great. I felt like I was working hard for something important. I realized I am, me. I like working hard for me, I'm cool. No really, I am. :)

So during the session, I learned that if you tell Brian something was easy, he will make it heavier and longer. So he has earned something very important. He earned the saying, "Brian Wins." He won a lot yesterday. I thought the elliptical was tough.. pffff... cake walk compared to what he can do. The more I winced from the burn, the more he smiled. I think he enjoys the power of pain.

So anyway, my legs do not function right. I can't walk correctly, it's kinda funny. My quads feel like jello and like they could buckle at any moment. It's a good hurt. Or at least that's what I'm going to keep telling myself. He gave me homework. I like homework. Well I need to eat my APEX bar and drink some more water. Amazingly, these taste a lot better than they used to. I actually really like the double chocolate chip cookie, it tastes more like a brownie.

I'm in for a world of hurt.... literally. SmileyCentral.com

Yesterday, I did a fat% test, along with some basic tests by a trainer to see my ability. Okay so my fat% is pretty much as unhealthy as you can get (not surprised). My ability is surprisingly pretty good. I had "good form" during squats. I hung through these horrific freestanding "core" exercises. It felt like someone was pushing my back into the ground. We discussed some options and signed up for 11 sessions. I have some major (and minor) goals and I feel this is the jumpstart I need. I have now become financially responsible for my health as well.

Which brings me to my newest painful discover. My legs are killing me today. My legs were killing me last night. And this is just from the "basic ability" test. Today is my first session. I'm in for a treat tonight. I hope I can walk tomorrow.

Categories of the Gym

For those of you who have gone to the gym constantly at some point in your life, you know about the categories of people that go to the gym. If you don't, let me paint you a picture.

1. Steroid Boy (sometimes girl which is pretty scary). Pretty self-explanatory.
2. Newbie - many can fall under this category. Here are a couple of my favs.
-The person who comes in jeans and gets on cardio machines for 5 minutes each, then moves to the weight machines and lifts as much as he/she can for 1 rep and heads out of the gym after about 30 minutes.
-The person who we see work really hard on some cardio machine for 45 minutes and then don't see for another week if ever again.
3. Gym Rat - Girl with shorts so short they might as well be her boy brief underwear. Always has a "A" shirt on (or politically incorrect: wife beater). More make-up and perfume then most whores wear while working. She must strategically place herself on a machine in the middle of the floor where everyone can see her. Then pull out her cell phone to talk about how "she can't believe that ho did that" or making plans for the weekend and quite loudly at that. This all occurring while she drinks some "Monster" energy drink. Very Healthy indeed.
4. Bigger than I am. These are the guys that are fun to watch. They all walk around like they are built like the 1970's Arnold. What most of these little boys don't know is that just because you walk with your arms popped out from your sides, doesn't mean you have massive obliques. They kind of remind me of monkeys. Gives for a nice giggle though.
5. Athletes. The few and the proud but there are some out there. These are the people that come in with the bare necessities and don't "socialize" outside of their mp3/radio. They have a set routine and know exactly what needs to be done. No fancy drinks, just water. There bodies show what a lot of people strive for but have no idea how to get.

I'm sure I could go on for awhile. The amount of people that convene in this area is amazing. A comedian could find material for years at a gym. It's untapped with possibilities. Unfortunately, we run into #3 ALOT.

When you're trying to read during your cardio, listening to said twit is quite annoying. If you need to talk on your cell that badly, go home. If you need to text messages people, you obviously are not in the right mind set, again, go home. We don't care about your plans or how cute your nails are that you just had done.

I don't take my cell phone in. The gym is like the library, the movie theater or a restaurant, I will not answer inside a public area . I think it's rude to the people you are with (unless a family call is necessary to which I keep very short or walk outside of the restaurant ) or to the people around you. I answer my work cell but that's about it and even then I feel stupid. People got through emergencies before cell phones, it should be okay for an hour and half while I'm at the gym or out to dinner with friends.

So, in short, leave your cell phone in the car or keep your annoying ass at home. Thank you.

Most people find pens they lost a month ago or a piece of gum. I find lizards climbing on my desk and base jumping to cardboard boxes... Silly Base Jumping Frank

I am nerdier than 72% of all people. Are you nerdier? Click here to find out!

I AM A NERD AND TOOK A TEST TO PROVE IT!!!

Shouldn't that alone give me a 100%?
