Animal Crossing: Puppy Folk Day 2
Hmm, well I'd like to say this day went all easy peazy but it didn't. We got home from work, took the dogs out back, they went potty, ran around and then G-dog went inside... came out, with a piece of ball. I was told by Mortimer that they shouldn't be allowed to have toys together because they will fight... she was right. I had Alix run in the house and get me a kid gate, I threw it right on top of them and hard... they stopped. G-dog is terribly afraid them and thank goodness. We thought they were cool but there was blood on the patio. Sharkbaby's pad was cut, he had a little chunk taken out of his shoulder, a little hole on his face but was fine overall. G-dog had a few little cuts but they were cool... just not with each other. We seperated them, got Sharkbaby's bleeding under control, it took all of 2 minutes, put him in his kennel and they chilled while we got ready to go to dinner with my parents.
We came home and they were quiet. Took Sharkbaby out and he went potty and he was a little limpy at first, probably a little sore but walked it off and was fine. I let them run around the living room and you could tell they were still agitated, I was on the phone and they had a little spat so I decided to crate Sharkbaby all eve :( They ate fine but he was not interested in his bone at all. They both just slept the whole time. When we went to bed there was minimal whining. So what looked kinda bad is probably normal in Mortimers eyes?
As of this A.M. he walked out fine this morning to pee and G-dog looks kosher too. *phew* :) He was all whiney as usual when my alarm went off. :)

Animal Crossing in the Real World: Puppy Folk
Wednesday through Friday we are house/puppy sitting for Mortimer. We have Goonie and Mako, or as I call them, G-dog and Sharkbaby. This will serve as a report for Morti since she's freaking out instead of concentrating on her girl and ocean in front of her. *eh hem*
Day 1 - Captain's Puppy Log
We arrive to Morti's to find an excited G-dog and whiney Sharkbaby. We opted to set Polly up before letting him out. Then we walked out back and let them run around for about 20 minutes, they went Potty then we all went inside. We sat down, they played, laid around, Sharkbaby even nodded off on me a few times but G-dog would bark to wake him up and get him off the couch. She's trouble.
We got hungry and I decided to take Lexi to Carla's, one of my fav places when I lived in the 'dale 12 yrs ago. I showed her some bars I used to "work" at on occasion to fill in for friends. I got my classic Pnut butter & chocolate shake, we got burgers and shared some fries. GOOD STUFF! We got home, fed the pups and fed ourselves. Since the doggies were so good, we gave them one big fry each when we were finished. Then we watched a lot of NCIS :)
I took my shower and was entertained by Morti's choices of shampoos and conditioners, anytime I can laugh at bottles in the shower, I'm having a good time. I got in my PJ's and we went into the bedroom around 10:ish after locking up and putting the pups to bed. Sharkbaby happily ate his bone but G-dog was crying to come in, it took us awhile to figure that out. She finally got tired of whining and we played AC long enough to check in and then watched some tv as we went to sleep.
They whined here and there throughout the night but it wasn't bad, the wind was worse than anything, it kept scaring Polly and sounded like things were banging all over the house.

Update on the Fasting
So wow was I wrong about this fasting thing. You don't lose 20-30 in a month... it's a WEEK! Here's how it works, you take 2 shots in the morning of this juice and a protein drink. Same for lunch, with snacks of celery, cucumbers or raw almonds. Dinner is boiled chicken and plain steamed veggies with another shot and protein drink before bed.
Okay, these guys have will power of steel.
* I type this as I eat my 1/2 sandywich of ham & cheese with a 1/2 bag of flamin' hot chips and water.*

Uncluttering Makes A Huge Mess
So after staying at my parents house for a week, I realized I like how comfy and spacious their house feels even though it isn't the biggest house in the world. Our place is basically the same idea. It's not the biggest but has the potential to be set up nicely.
I'm just starting spring cleaning a little early :) So far, we've given away about 35ish shirts to goodwill, thrown out loads of empty boxes and misc. trash. It's impressive how much stuff you hold on to for no reason. The living room and dining area look a little too vacant now, they need some pics hung up. I'm working on that next.
So I tore apart the entertainment center and ended up having to call Lexi in to help me set it up since she knew better what wires could reach where or be moved at all. Looking around in the midst of this made me realize what a big mess I was making. It's funny because no matter how messy you think something is, you always have to make a bigger mess to get it cleaned up.
I'm pretty excited to go home tonight and sit in the living room and look around. I made a plan to start from the front (check) and work my way to the back. Tonight I will tackle the hall closest, our geocaching stuff is a little scattered and we have geo-stuff everywhere!

My Boss is fasting, so I'll lose 10lbs
So my boss and family aren't the best with sticking to eating for the better but really who is now-a-days with so many fast food, pre-made, hot n ready, drive-thru eateries it's no wonder Americans are at their biggest ever. The fast paced world we live in leaves much of us at a loss for cooking at home anymore and cooking healthy is put even further on the back burner.
I have good intentions of doing better but free food placed in front of you daily does prove challenging. Some days I'll make runs, not only to Taco Bell and Carl's Jr but to Shell to get ice creams and candy bars... free is hard to say no to, I don't care who you are.
My boss has opted to go through this fasting thingie that his dad did last year and lost 30ish lbs in about a month, month and a half (yes he has gained some of it back). This means no fast food is brought into the shop for... well how ever long this lasts so this is my chance to get back ahead of the game.
I also spoke with the hiking girls today, well one party and we want to get back to hiking, biking and/or camping with them. We have plenty of tools to make the Epic Hike happen next year. This involves, carrying our own tent, clothes, sleeping bag, food, basically everything we need for 4 days on our backs while we hike for 12 miles through the sand to which I am told by mile 3 I will be cussing out said party for talking me into such an adventure. With all this information, I WANT TO DO IT. For now we are in the process of planning a biking trip which I am very excited for. We live in one of the most outdoor friendly states and I'd like to get back to taking advantage of that.
Back to my cucumber and apple plum white tea.

Alix the Great
I wonder sometimes how I got so lucky and blessed with such a wonderful girl. At the same time, I realize it's partly because I took a chance. I looked out into the abyss of unknowing and I ran toward it. I didn't look back, no regrets, no reservations and now I realize, nothing to lose. If I had been truly happy from the soul, no such "proposition" would have ever come before me. Yes, I had a good life and I learned a lot and those experiences taught me things. You can't take kudos from life lessons.
I enjoy us. I so very much appreciate how she drags her little butt out of bed every morning to make me breakfast and pack my lunch. I love that she supports all my kitchen creations.
Last night made the "super sweetie" list. I was trying to figure out what to make for dinner (she was working till 8:pm) and she kept putting me off in txts which I thought meant what I suggested didn't sound good or she wasn't hungry. It was about 8:pm and the front door flies open and I peek around the corner. I couldn't figure out why she was home already and I didn't get a txt. She kept saying "SURPRISE!" but I was too shocked she was home already lol
As she yelled Surprise at me for the 3rd and loudest time, I saw she had a big bag of food and some drinks. She brought me surprise dinner!
She was lucky enough to find $20 on the ground and opted to buy us dinner since it was free money anyway :) Since they were so slow at work, they let her go home at 7:30pm so she had some time to work out her MokeyCat secret agent plan. She picked the place and all the food. It was Wing stop! mmmmmmmmmm okay so did I mention how GREAT it was!?!?! I love their hot wings! Yay for the chicken of the buffalo and hickory bbq something or another and the tangy little hawiians :) And those fries! Just go try them, they are sweet but salty... ohhh getting a little hungry thinking about it lol
I love how we surprise and take care of one another. I can't express how much I appreciate all these little things, it just means the world to me and well... um... YAY!

Lexi Jones and Raiders of the Lost Animal Crossing
So little miss girlfriend of mine decided she was going to start a new town on the Nintendo DS version of Animal Crossing. Since AC is a 1 player game we share the Wii-mote a lot but when the villages of our online games are set and there is nothing else to do it can be a little boring for the other person. Well she was having so much fun in her new town of Roseart that I wanted to start a game too instead of just transferring our Wii game back and forth. AND we can play with each other when we travel and what not. So now we needed another copy of the game.
We had some cash monies at Best Buy so she went after work to get it. Out of stock. Off to Walmart... again, zippo. Okay, let's settle for Game Stop... they are out! Holy Schmutzfa! She decides to ask just in case... AND... they have one in... USED! So it's the same price we would have paid at Best Buy! YAY!!!
Thanks BABY!

Y txtin can mess wit u
I was about to send an email to one of the lead people for Thums Long Beach Oil, whom we do a lot of sampling for. It was a simple email but I always triple check them, just in case:
Kathye,
Did u receive the scanned copy of the invoice from Scott 4 the work done on 12/29/08?
Umm... shit, really I typed 'u' and '4'? Thank goodness my eyes and brain were working together today and not fighting like Red Sox and Yankee fans as usual.

One of those days...
So I finally got up on time, even though I stayed up in bed playing AC till midnight. :) I walk out to my girl finishing the dishes and my lunch bag with crustless toast. This spawns from last night we loaded up my car with all the Christmas tubs and I needed to put some gas. She goes to sit in the passenger seat but in all its glory is my paper towel with all the toast crusts from the morning lol *busted*
Just one of those days when I can't express how lucky I am in so many ways... loved unconditionally, blessed, happy, floatie, spectacular, in awe... the list could go on till I make it so that Blogger puts a word limit on their blogs. Thank you Lexi for being you and loving me.

Fifi
Here is my 3rd attempt at Origami. An elephant. It's pretty cute and hanging on my wall at work. The folds and the symbols are WAY more difficult to remember than I thought but just like anything else you learn/teach yourself, it takes time. My 2nd attempt, a sailboat, not so cute. Tomorrow's is the body for the elephant. :)

Resolutions
Okay so we all have these, in some way or another, just admit it. Here are mine:
Healthier living
Not just eating and exercising but mental health and happiness. I did really good with my inner growth this past year and I'd like that to stay on the rise and include the physical aspect to help match up a little more.
Origami
I like to learn new things. I also like being a student from the "self taught" academy so I decided about 1/2 way through last year I would learn origami and add it as one of my resolutions for 2009. In the wonderful spirit that is my girlfriend, Alix bought me a 365 days of origami. I just wanted to learn about 25 really well so I have plenty to choose from. Below is day one: A paper cup. This was harder then I thought but the nice thing is, they are very encouraging.
Time- Being On
I have a horrible sense of projecting what I can accomplish in a certain amount of time. I apparently think that I can get the list of 3 people done in 2.5 hours. When it's actually like 6 hours and that's if I cut some stuff out. I've always been notorious for overextending myself, I fixed one huge part of that last year. I no longer have the year calendar memorized to heart so if someone says "oh we should plan a beach trip in June" and it's only January, I could 'before' tell you the dates of each weekend and which ones I had open. I had long days planned out and constantly adding more stuff in vs. trying to take stuff out. It's not something you can just stop, you have to ease out of that way of life. I feel much more like myself then a robot of a person. So far I'm 3 for 4 with the timeliness (sorry you had to eat so many chips alone Patty).
Published
I have so many stories lying around, not just on paper or on a thumb drive but even in my head. I got really close to actually submitting one, then decided nah and instead of just shelving it I threw it away. Okay so I'm a bit of chickenbaby :p Rejection sucks.
So there I am for all to see. Happy 2009

The One with a Simple New Years Eve
So when it came down to it, we decided to just celebrate together since we didn't get to spend Christmas together. Last year found us up at our friends' Kate & Shay's alone so why not do it again this year? Our plan was this: appetizers, pizza and video games and maybe a board game.
And what would New Years be without some of these?
I forgot how much I enjoyed mimosas! mmm We had a really nice time together and I love that. We even have a bunch of Animal Crossing New Years pics... are you really surprised? LOL

Here I am in front of Town Hall blowing bubbles as the town clock counts down. Mayor Tortimor is standing behind me, he's handing out party poppers.
Here I am visiting my friend Jen over in Penguin Town, we're popping the poppers, it's fun!
I'm standing on the bridge enjoying the fireworks after New Years.

The Obsession Grows
Animal Crossing is a huge staple in our lives right now. Alix came back and after visiting a few other towns through Wi-Fi she's just as hooked as I am LOL We've found out so much about the game from visiting others. I've even dedicated an SD card for pics from Animal Crossing. Some of the animals say funny things too.

HeeHee, sometimes people have their animals have funny sayings.

Coming Home!
So yesterday my girl was back in my arms. Weather looked good on both ends. I left about 2:00pm because I really had no idea how traffic was going to be. I mean I could catch 5 o'clock traffic on a Friday on the 405... it's a crap shoot. One accident and it could take me 3 hours to go 5 miles. I got to Magic Mountain in 55 minutes... it was the flow of traffic. I also had a plan that if I got to the 101 off the 405 by 3:15pm then I'd run over to Ventura to meet Patty and Courtney at Joe's Crab shack for dinner. Just about the time I decided that, I was slamming on my breaks in front of the Magic Mtn. Parkway exit. It was 2:55pm, things weren't looking good. We crawled around the bend, past Lyons exit and then there was the sign for the 405, I moved over and all of the sudden, traffic was moving again, weird. So I called Patty & Qrt to see where they were and let them know it was gonna be tough to decide if I was going to make it. It was about 3:25pm at this point and I was coming up on the 101... hmm... as I start to merge toward it and think I might make it... the traffic was stopped going to the 101, so I move back over and keep heading south on the 405 LOL. I wished them a "good time" and went along my way. Not 15 minutes later and I was already seeing the signs for LAX... holy hell I was 5 hours early. The Promenade happened to be a couple exits before it so I decided to hang out there instead of racking up parking fees and sitting at the airport with nothing to do for 5 hours.
I walked around in my shorts and it was COLD! Oddly enough there were only a couple of stores. So I killed time in Game Stop (shocker), Borders - I found a game too, yay for doodle dice and decided it was dinner time. This area was more of a business district so where they lacked in retail stores, they had about 25 resturants to choose from. I decided on Marie Calendars, I wanted something warm. They happened to have happy hour so I decided on 2 appetizers and ginger ale. It has also given me the chance to write this blog :) (I'm just reciting from my notes basically) It gave me a place to sit for awhile and people watch.
After that, I went to buy me a hat with ear flaps that had braided sides, I've been wanting one for a while. Then I needed some hot cocoa and decided a salted caramel hot cocoa was in order. I decided to head to the airport since it was about 7:00pm. I wasn't sure how bad it would be to get in there... or by 7:15pm I was in the garage. Sheesh, the one time, right? So I walked down to find her flight and by 7:25pm I was sitting in an airport chair with nothing to do... boring. I headed back to the car to play with my lappy. I always have online games :) That passed the last hour and as I headed down and across the crosswalk, I got her text! YAY!!! About 20 minutes later, she was in my arms!!!
What a great drive home, we got to talk and laugh and DAMN did I miss her laugh. I even brought her back with some In N Out LOL
*sigh and smiles* Welcome Home hunney :)

Merry Christmas
So I learned a lot yesterday. I learned that even though I've had no one to talk to when I walk in the door, my evolving attitude of "it could actually be worse" really helped this week go by quickly and the tiny bit of sadness I had, never got too far out of control. I had a bit of a hard time getting out of bed though. I didn't run to the tree, there was no one to say good morning to but Polly came strolling in and coaxed me out of bed... just one more day. *sigh*
Also, Happy Birthday Patty! I love that you just invite your friends in your home for snacks and a pure sense of happiness and love. I'm also glad that your Champagne Cake came out so well. Thank you for welcoming me in, in so many ways Patty. I enjoyed your birthday more than I usually do my own :)
I had fun with my family, as always. We ate, we laughed, we recited lines from A Christmas Story, it was great. Ate too much, of course and sat around. I had a very nice offer from Patty to go see a movie, it's what she wanted to do for her birthday and who am I to deny a girl on her birthday? *smiles*
As I walked out of my parents house, I enjoyed the lights. I always enjoy the lights, I think the neighbors do too. There are staples in my life, especially in the holidays and now, at the moment, I realized how important it was for Alix to be where she was at that moment.
I headed to Patty's and walk in to her doing what Patty's do best; checking out pin-up girls and singing in her PJ's :) It had made me wish I had changed into my sweats since she decided to go in her PJ's. Patty suggested we hurry so I could change and then if was off to popcorn madness!
She wanted to see 7 Pounds. I didn't know anything about this movie except that it had Will Smith in it. We got in line, a long long line full of stupid people. THEN I got into another line, even longer, full of stupid people who have never seen popcorn and sodas on the same menu.
I missed a few minutes of the movie and Patty gave me the run down... I was sad because I was pretty sure I could foresee the ending. I learned another sweet thing about Patty, she really does live minute by minute. When it finally hit her what was going to happen, she started quietly crying :( I handed her all the non-buttery napkins I had.
7 lbs
Helluva movie. Sometimes we need to be reminded of why we are put on this big huge Earth. Sometimes we need to be reminded that not ALL of humanity is going to shit, movie or not. So even though it was one of the saddest movies I've seen, I felt like I actually got something from it.
So I thank you Patty, for sharing such a special day, giving me some life insight and making this Christmas a little more memorable then I thought possible.

Christmas Eve
So YAY, I got off 1.5 hrs early on Christmas Eve. I decided to take the opportunity to add back in a few things I was sad to have had to take out, so I headed to the store and planned to visit Patty for a few to drop some stuff off and pick some stuff up. Just so happened Court was there too :) I love these girls, for so many reasons but they really saved me this week.
Patty was baking because Patty bakes, Courtney happily taste tests because...well... who wouldn't want to? *smiles* The plan was for me to hang out with the Courtney later at work and get some of my last minute items made. Hey, I had everything, I just needed to finish them up :)
I ran home, grabbed everything I needed and then Courtney and I shared a very traditional Christmas Eve dinner... okay if you live in California, are lesbian and spending time away from your girlfriends it's traditional so shut up. We broke bread, with cheese and meat in between it. We had In-N-Out for our dinner LMAO It was awesome and short of Alix being here, it was the best Christmas Eve ever. Thank you friend.
I spent a few more hours than planned but it was so much fun, I couldn't help myself. Since Qrt was so tired, I'm hoping my antics made it pass a little faster. I know "having the music in me" definitely made for some entertainment :) And "NOT Judging" Gregg Kerr for wanting my moms Betty Boop Blanket will keep us laughing for awhile.
So to you Courtney, thank you for showing me that friend-bonding-memory-making-moments are best shared over the simple things with the people you love.
